It may be a new war for America, but for the people of Central Asia it’s simply more of the same. Over the past two decades there have been wars in: Iran, Iraq. Kuwait, and From 19, November 2001 — Afghanistan. While media attention has focussed on technological gee wizardry and to a lesser extent, the geopolitical context of the region, the real story is being ignored. Thousands of Afghanis have been displaced by two decades of war. Those numbers have been dramatically increased, thanks to America’s “New War” and there are indications that even when the Taliban do fall many Afghanis have nothing to go home to.
